Paint is a thin film that sits on top of a wall. Plaster becomes the wall surface: mineral-based material (lime, clay, or marble dust) is hand-applied in thin layers with a trowel, so the finish has real depth, subtle movement in the light, and a texture you can feel.
The result reads as quiet and natural rather than flat and uniform, and it ages gracefully instead of chipping or peeling.
A lime putty blended with fine marble dust, applied in several thin coats and burnished with a steel trowel until it develops a soft, stone-like sheen. Light moves across it. It reads as elegant and slightly formal, which is why it’s popular for dining rooms, entries, and fireplace surrounds.
A traditional Moroccan lime plaster that is compressed with a smooth stone and sealed with olive soap. The soap reacts with the lime to create a water-resistant surface, which is why tadelakt has lined bathhouses for centuries and why it can go in a shower today. It’s seamless, with no grout lines, and flows around curves and niches.
Plaster is tinted with natural mineral pigments, so the palette leans toward earth tones, soft neutrals, warm whites, and muted greens and blues, though richer colors are possible. Texture ranges from a polished, stone-like sheen to a soft, chalky matte. We make physical sample boards for every project so you can see the color and finish in your own light before we begin.
